AMANDA JARVIS
Partner
Having successfully obtained a BTEC in Business and Finance, I was keen to pursue a career in accountancy. I
learnt the ropes at a small firm before moving to a medium sized firm. During the 6 years I remained at the
firm I developed an expertise in VAT and Payroll matters something which I have continued to build on to this
day. I became AAT qualified in 1989 and ATT qualified (tax equivalent) in 1991.
In 1990 I became partner's assistant to Paul Waite starting what is now an 18 year association. This role got
me involved in a wider range of work particularly a greater exposure to corporate work including business
plans, forecasts and management accounts. I joined Paul one month after he formed Aspen Waite and being
involved from the start has involved me in a wide range of work as well as being confronted with all the
day to day problems of a growing business. This has stood me in good stead in terms of offering advice
to my clients.
In 1995 I became a partner of our then small business division becoming a full partner shortly after and
an affiliated member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. I am the firms designated responsible
individual for investment business. I have always been IT literate and am continuing to develop my skills
being responsible for all internal IT while being the partner responsible for our associate IT consultancy
and software companies. I also have high level Sage expertise and find this is a service of increasing
use to clients.
I have played a full role in helping the firm to expand offering a good balance to Paul and a good honest
practical down to earth approach. I am now the firms Deputy Senior Partner and the Regional Partner for
the Somerset offices. My forte is in offering an enthusiastic, proactive hands on service offering a
full range of general practise services.
Outside of work I have a teenage son and a horse to look after. I enjoy most things to do with horses as
well as diving, gardening and reading.
