AWS Structural Finance
Spring definitely seems to be coming! In the natural world the days are getting longer, more birds are singing and the bulbs are beginning to pop up above the surface. In the AWS world things are similar the days are still very long (!), more deals are being seen and, after a long cultivation period in many cases, real projects are popping to the surface!
Work has now started on writing 3 separate books (Renewable Energy in South East Europe, Renewable Energy in the Former Soviet Union, Public Private Partnerships in Russia) for the professional market and contributing parts to the book. In the last case we also have the exclusive rights to sell all the advertising and sponsorship for the book and this is being handled on a day to day basis by our associates in Bucharest.
The Romanian Property Investment Fund we have established is very nearly ready to 'go public' and if the level of interest shown at a recent seminar at which we spoke is anything to go by it will keep us rather busy for the foreseeable future!
A further short trip to Russia in March has led to us putting together a consortium to bid for a Euro 3 million contract to advise the Ministry of Economy on how to .improve living conditions of the population of the Russian Federation through the modernisation and improvement of municipal services', as well as a number of other exciting projects. These projects follow on from three other advisory projects in Russia over the last two years.
We are also investigating the possibility of establishing a smart card operation in Ukraine (and possibly Romania and Russia) in conjunction with one of Europe's leading suppliers who approached us as they lacked the local knowledge. This is potentially very exciting and is possible as one of our associates is a recognised expert in this field. Rather unusually we have also completed a small research project in Germany and been asked to conduct a number of training courses in Saudi Arabia. It has to be warmer than Russia!
In the UK, a number of the corporate finance deals that we are working on are making good progress and we continue to expand the type of service that we are able to provide. Pleasingly there also seems to be a lot of synergy between our various clients and we have made several introductions in the last month or so which look set to be beneficial for all concerned. Real added value!!
We always approach life with an open mind and a flexible approach and much like scattering mixed seed over fertile soil we never quite know what will pop up where or when.
